It has been a rather interesting year in the software engineering space in Africa, a lot has happened regardless of the pandemic that has defied projections and predictions especially in light of the fact that Africa is noted to be behind the curve technologically. The African tech startups which made the news this year have leveraged the problems inherent in the status quo in order to create value that has proved quintessential.
The African tech space has grown in leaps and bounds this year with hundreds of millions of dollars raised in funding and a lot of million-dollar acquisitions. The African continent is perceived to be behind the times in hardware engineering (deservedly so) which is why it is worth celebrating that software engineers are able to create valuable products and solutions which are recognized globally.
I believe the law of demand and supply will favor the growth of the African tech space by drawing more talent into the software engineering space which will ultimately lead to the development of more products and services in the future. 2021 is going to be a very interesting year for stakeholders in the tech industry. For newbies interested in getting into tech, now would be a good time to decide, the ship is about leaving the harbor. There is a lot of promise in the industry.
