There's something about the end of the year that reminds us of milestones and it takes our eyes off the progress we've made. It's OK to take stock of achievement throughout the year. For budding engineers who are overwhelmed by the amount of knowledge and skill you must amass in so little time it's understandable that you want to bury yourself in your work.
Sometimes the best way forward is to take a step backward. Rest a bit, spend time with family and friends, enjoy the holidays and remind yourself of the reason why life is beautiful, we're not machines, we're all in the pursuit of happiness, coding is just a means to an end.
