How to successfully transition into the tech industry
It's a well-known fact that your thoughts shape your life. A lot of people however take for granted how important targeted advertising is (justifiably because of the bad press it gets). I've had a couple people ask me questions on how to make a career change and I new right off the bat that they weren't doing any research themselves. If you so much as look-up anything online or on social media you've opened yourself up to more information (related to your search query) being thrown at you. This is a great thing because by simply showing interest in a topic the internet moves to act on your interest thus getting you closer to it. What a software engineer sees when he/she opens YouTube, Google, Facebook or any social media is way different from what a banker would see, the ads and clickbaits that get thrown at software engineers is way different from ads and clickbaits thrown at the average person. These little things over time compounds. Take advantage of targeted advertising, when you're interested in something look it up yourself, keep entering search queries online. By doing this you literally teach and instruct the internet to act on your interest, this doesn't in anyway negate the fact that you need to take steps in the real world, making a career switch isn't instantaneous, it's a process you have to follow. The field of tech is not a sprint, however it's a marathon you'll enjoy.
