When we browse the internet we usually see the logo of the site we're on when we look at the tab, it's a cute feature that clients can really get behind. That tiny image you see on the tab is called a favicon. But what if I told you that favicons compromise your security and privacy?.
It was recently discovered that favicons can be used to perpetrate malicious activities on web which include (but are not limited to) hacking, tracking user data, location, browser history (even on incognito mode). A lot of effort is going towards protecting privacy and security on the web by addressing this design flaw, it's times like these that remind us why the job of a software engineer is never totally done.
